Old Stone Studio began in Cape Town in 2019, at a kitchen table, not a factory.
Our founder had picked up a single rose quartz gua sha on a whim, during a stretch of long shifts and short sleep. Five minutes with it, morning and night, ended up being the only part of the day that felt unhurried. That stone is still on the shelf where the studio started.
What began as one tool for one bad week turned into a small studio built around the same idea: care doesn't need to be complicated, just consistent. We work with a handful of stone cutters who shape each piece individually rather than casting them by the hundred — which means small variations from stone to stone, and it means someone actually held yours before it reached you.
We don't chase every new material or trend. We source stone we can stand behind, we test tools on ourselves before they're listed, and we'd rather sell one gua sha that lasts a decade than three that don't. That's the whole pitch, really.
